A song I'm listening to over and over, almost as a form of prayer. It's about Simon's relationship with Carrie Fisher. Dunno why it hits hard now, but it does. Please, feel free to post your own forms of comfort:

  1. I really like the "Everybody loves the sound of a train in the distance / Everybody thinks it's true" refrain. Thank you for posting this!

As for other forms of comfort that have been good lately:

    1) this NPR Tiny Desk Concert with Weyes Blood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLMG0AMQn3U I was listening to this on repeat while packing up to move out of the dorms last month. It's cathartic in a way that I found helpful.

    2) the song Bloomin' Rose by Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HN6w3Hdt3dI It's soothing.

    3) the song Make It Rain as performed by H.E.R. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VM4pKq1CxZs Stirring and gospel-like.

    4) the song The First Single (You Know Me) by The Format: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmRTjb8kwBc It's catchy.

  2. I love this song, and it reminds me of two Carrie Fisher related things I've been trying to put on my phone so I can listen to them all the time. The first is her singing Bridge Over Troubled Water (long before being with Simon) at 17 in her mother's cabaret, but the only clip I can find is just a few verses long in the documentary about her and Debbie. The second is a really beautiful tribute to Carrie by her daughter Billie, who sings American Girl (Carrie's favorite song) in the bathtub (Carrie's favorite place).
Also, I've been listening to the song Wrapped Up from the Vox Lux soundtrack--really interesting movie from a few years about about a girl who survives a school shooting and becomes a rock star, played by Raffey Cassidy and Natalie Portman. It's supposed to be kind of abrasive and poser-y, but it also feels really relevant to me right now. Both Cassidy and Portman's versions are really good.
